Chickens Enjoy Fall
I’ve been letting the chickens enjoy fall by turning them loose in the corral. Usually I keep them safely in their run and provide plenty of enrichment. However, the weather has been dry and crisp with leaves falling every day. They seem to love searching through all the Tulip Poplar leaves for things to snack on and they also check out each goat stall.
Soon winter will be here and although it doesn’t get as cold as it does further north, there will not be much for the hens to forage. I occasionaly pick up a cabbage or other vegetable to hang up for them but it doesn’t last long. In the meantime, I’m going to let the chickens enjoy fall and keep looking to see what else I can provide for their winter entertainment.
